I grew up amid the glittering lights of the Las Vegas Strip, where I once chased lizards on a patch of desert now occupied by the Treasure Island Resort. In middle school, I would step off a long yellow bus across the street from Caesars Palace and walk home. Much later, I drove to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I wrote for the college newspaper, received a BA in German, and an MA in Public Administration.
My thirst for adventure began at age 10 one morning while my parents slept. I swung my legs over my ten-speed and pedaled along the Strip, eager to discover where the long boulevard ended. Since then, I’ve cycled through the Alps, lived and traveled across Europe, picked pineapples in Hawaii, walked barefoot over scorching coals, and hitched a ride on a freight train through the Mojave Desert under a star-studded sky.
My latest adventure began when I bought a van and toured the U.S. and Canada. Now, with the pending release of “NO Overnight Parking – Vanlife Stories from a Year on the Road,” I invite you to join me on an extraordinary journey. Don’t worry about a place to park – after a year on the road I’ve discovered the most unique spots. Just be prepared to experience the life of a vandwelling nomad from an intimate perspective.
